What makes a good title sequence according to Kyle Cooper?

Kyle Cooper is a very famous film opening film designer and director. He has made well known film openings such as Seven, Spiderman and much more as well as Directed 150 TITLE SEQUENCES.
Cooper strongly believes that the title sequence is part of the film, therefore as important as the film.Cooper believes there three things that makes a good title sequence.
  • Typography
  • Location and Props
  • Relations

According to Kyle Cooper the title sequence HAS to

 1.  Excite the audience, drawing them into the film intriguing them to watch it all

2.  Set the atmosphere and get the audience into the films world.

 3.    Set high expectations

A good title sequence is meant to:

”    "It makes you thrilled to be in this theatre at the moment, getting ready to see this movie. It makes you glad that you are nowhere else in this world except where you are getting ready to see something amazing."

    Typography

  •       The font of the movie needs to link well with the genre of the movie, for example a teen film would have bright colours.

  •       The typography should reflect the films genre.

     Location and Props
  •      Kyle Cooper believes that using handmade materials is much more better as it shows originality and suggest an imperfect atmosphere.
  •      The opening of the film sets an expectation, therefore the opening should be very good.

     Relations
  •      A film opening must relate to the film, it needs to reflect what the film is about and give the audience a slight insight to what they're about to watch without giving away to much information.
  •      It also needs to be relevant to the story line and characters. A lot go good title sequences relate to the main characters back story, revealing something about them.

f   Another great example of a Kyle Cooper Title Sequence is Spiderman 2:
